Swim Team Updates - from FOST President
Great Job Barracudas vs Spring Creek Oaks! Our Barracudas defeated the Spring Creek Oaks Dolphins this past Saturday. It was great to see all of our Barracuda swimmers do their very best. Our coaches are doing a fantastic job getting your swimmers prepared. Understandably, this is a super busy time of year, however, the more these swimmers practice the more they will improve.
Summer Thunder is an OPTIONAL swim meet that our team attends each year. This is a great opportunity for our swimmers to swim at Klein High School against kids from a lot of other teams. HOWEVER, all 12 and under swimmers must qualify for this meet. (We have attached the qualifying times to this email). The PACK swim team runs this extremely fun meet. There is a $5 fee for every event your swimmer enters (this money is due to Soledad Garza and Lori Gonzales by the end of swim meet on June 1st. The FOST swim team will cover all Relay Costs. Every dual meet we swim this season is in a Meter Pool. This is also another opportunity for swimmers to achieve NWAL certified times that will qualify them for post season invitationals. Summer Thunder will be taking place June 2nd & 3rd. 10 & under swimmers will compete on Sunday afternoon and 11 & older swimmers will compete Sunday evening and Monday evening. This is a super fun meet for the swimmers and their families. We will have a team setup area and the team spirit and camaraderie is truly memorable.
This Wednesday, May 22nd is our Cudathon annual fundraiser. This fundraiser is to update our tents, equipment, stop watches, grills etc. We may also be attempting to raise enough money to purchase a Dolphin timing system that is very similar to what we used at Spring Creeks Oaks this past meet. This will save a lot of human hours and more accurately record all swimmers times. The price tag on these systems is right at about $3000. Cudathon is much more than the money. It is an opportunity for your swimmer to set a goal, and do everything they can to achieve that goal. We will have prizes for the top lap swimmers in every age group. All swimmers must swim with their assigned age group. We will also have additional prizes for swimmers who work the hardest at Cudathon. Every swimmer will be eligible for a prize. We do require a minimum of $25 per swimmer to get their Cudathon shirt and raise money for our team. Any questions, please see a board member or feel free to email me at [email protected].
Always remember to check the calendar on the website. There is no practice on Memorial Day, May 27th and no practice on Thursday, May 30th due to the Lemm 5th Grade last day of school party.
Morning practices (Out of School Practices) begin Monday, June 3rd and will continue through the remainder of the season.
Swim Fast Barracudas!
