Team & Splash info

Hello Barracudas!!

Splash & Team Information ๐Ÿ˜Š

What an amazing first week of practice. It was so good to see our swimmers so excited to be back and eager to jump in and show their improved skills!

Splash swimmers hang in there we will start as soon as this crazy chilly weather leaves!

Donโ€™t worry we will get all the classes completed this year.

A few things that came up that we would like to provide additional information for:

  1. We check with the pool facility daily up until 3:00 for the pool temperature and based on temp of the pool & outside temperature we plan practices & lessons. Our goal is always to be in the water but on cooler days / rainy days we have to make decisions to cancel or not. Please always check your emails & Fb especially on days we have weather issues in the forecast.

2. As in previous years, parents are not allowed on the pool deck during practices. Beginning today, the gates will be closed and only swimmers, coaches, and board members will be permitted on deck.

3. Pool entry gates- both gates by the tennis courts are open for entry during practices and you may use either. The main gate by the gym is not available for swim team use as with previous seasons.

4. Towels- It is suggested to bring 2 towels, especially for the littles. One can be used on deck when not in the water and the other one can be used after practice. We understand during April and the crazy Texas weather it can be chilly.

5. All swimmers must swim with their own age groups and at their own scheduled times unless arrangements have been communicated with Coaches. We understand everyoneโ€™s schedules can be difficult but for safety and skills we need to make sure they are in their proper swimming age group.

6. If registration payment has not been rec'd (and not previously discussed with the treasurer) we do ask it be brought this week and given to a board member. This also applies to the $250 un-dated volunteer deposit checks.

7. Parents - if you have questions or concerns for the coaches, please email them or ask a board member. Coaches need to be in the pool or on deck focused on the swimmers at all times. In most cases, a board member can answer the question or get the answer quickly.

8. If weather is an issue for practice, the board will post on Facebook, website page and send an email as soon as we make a decision. Please understand it may be right before practice as Texas weather is a bit crazy. (as stated in #4 above! LOL)

Out of courtesy and for planning purposes we will attempt to post "cancellations only" 30 minutes before scheduled practice start times. Our goal is for our swimmers to get their practices in, but Swimmer and Coach safety is priority. We will send an email, post on FB, and post on the FOST website.

Lightning/Thunder Policy: If lightning/thunder is present, the pool and deck must be cleared. There is a 30 minute wait time from once the thunder/lightning stops. If any lightning is seen or thunder is heard, the 30 minute clock starts back at 0:00. If the skies are clear but storm clouds are in the far distance and the nearest lightning strike is more than 9 miles away, everyone can stay in the pool. The WeatherBug and Weather Channel apps show lightening distance.

9. Splash parents I have sent out several emails with a parent questionnaire to help the coaches place your swimmer in the correct groups, please fill this out. Iโ€™ve
