A note to parents
Hello Parents,
Thank you for your support and for getting your kids into swimming. We know it is exciting and can be hard work for them. It can also be challenging from a parents standpoint as well.
Please remember that this is a new year with a large number of new swimmers and that things don’t always stay the same, they continually change to improve. We ask that you please be patient with the coaches and board members as the first few days of swim practice are hectic. With that being said we’d like to clarify a few questions/concerns we had on the first day of practice.
Parents are not allowed on deck during practice. It is a liability to the team and NWAL. You are not covered by insurance should anything happen. It is also a distraction to the swimmers and the coaches. The last thing we want is for coaches to be distracted when swimmers are in the water.
In past years, with the coach’s discretion, swimmers have been able to practice with a different age group. This is entirely dependent on the swimmer’s ability and not on the parent’s need to have a better schedule. After the first two weeks of practice, each request will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
The swim team cannot be responsible to get your kids to and from day care for practice. There is a large liability when one of the coaches is not on deck with so many kids in the water. The best option is to make friends with other parents and work together. There may be another parent who can help you with transportation or walking your swimmer to practice from School in the Pines.
Please also remember that where coaches are concerned they are available to you via email or via a note in the coach's mail box. Please if you have a concern that needs to be addressed immediately, contact a board member. They will be able to answer most of the questions you have.
It really does take a village and please know that many hours are spent by very dedicated volunteers to make this team successful. If you feel that you have what it takes to be a positive influence on the process, your help will not be turned down. There are three board positions open every year.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these matters, please contact a board member.
Thank you for your continued support.
