Cudathon

Good afternoon Barracudas!!!

Congratulations to our swimmers on their win against Colony Creek Mariners!!!

Barracudas 338 and Mariners 320, WAY TO GO BARRACUDAS!!!

Next up is our Cudathon which will take place on Wednesday May 21st during your swimmer/s practice time.   Those that are new to our team, Cudathon is an annual event where our swimmers swim laps to raise money for a local charity and for the past three years we have been raising money for Special Olympics Texas.  This is a great way for our swimmers to give back to the community by doing something they love swimming!!!

How this works, your swimmer/s will ask family, friends, neighbors to sponsor them per lap donation or a flat donation.  They will then swim as many laps as they can during their practice time, the younger swimmers will be able to use kick boards during their time.  After the Cudathon your swimmer/s will told the number of laps they swam to collect their pledges.    We give the swimmers who participates in the Cudathon a T-shirt.  There are two ways to participate, swim at the Cudathon or if you collect money and donate towards the Cudathon you will receive a T-shirt.  We do recognize the top 3 girls and top 3 boys in each age group who swim the most laps by putting the number of laps they swam on the right sleeve of their Cudathon shirt and then we also recognize the top 6 swimmers who raised the most funds by putting Top Fundraiser on their left sleeve.   Cudathon shirts will be given out at our pep rally on June 16th and at this time we will also present a check to Special Olympics Texas and hear from a few of their athletes.

We do need parent participation during the Cudathon in helping count laps for our swimmers. We will need six parents per age group.  A slip of paper will be provide  to those who are counting laps with each swimmers name on it that you will use to record the number of laps they swim.

This year we are doing something a little different.  We have always had parents bring food for the swimmers to eat once they are done.  This year we are asking that parents bring fruit or a dessert to their swimmer/s practice for them to eat after they are done swimming their Cudathon.  You will do this via Sing Up Genius, a link is provided below to sign up. This year we are doing something a little different.  We would like you to picnic with your swimmer once they are done.  So, what does that mean?  The FOST Board with provide pizza (2 slices each) for the swimmers to eat afterwards along with the fruit and dessert that the parents sign up to bring.  We would like to invite you to bring food of your choice for those in your family who are not swimming and join your swimmer for dinner afterwards. The Board will provide Lemonade, Tea and paper goods for everyone.   Please use this link to sign up to bring a dessert or fruit for your Childs age group.  www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0B48A4A72FA0FB6-cudathon
